Obituary for Rosemarie Boyle Self

Rosemarie Boyle Self, 76, of Newland passed away after a brief illness on November 20, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Bernard Boyle and Lois Ellen Rose Boyle. Earlier in life, Rosemarie operated a country store in Oldhams, Virginia and later a service station in Tappahannock, Virginia. Her caring and loving nature eventually led her into home health care, and she spent the remainder of her professional life caring for the elderly. She was a member of Welcome Grove Baptist Church in Newland.

Growing up on her family farm led to her love of all animals, especially birds. She raised prize-winning poultry for many years and her chickens, ducks, geese, and peacocks brought her so much happiness. In addition to her beloved birds, she also raised goats and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Rosemarie raised three little boys who grew up to share her love of the outdoors. Her sons enriched her life and seeing her family grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest joy.

Rosemarie was born on the Fourth of July and as one may expect with that birthday, she was a firecracker! She was full of fun and love, making everyone in her family feel special. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Self; her dear sons Bernard Wayne Morris (Lynnee), David Kevin Morris, Edward Keith Morris (Kelly) and stepdaughter, Violet Garcia; her beloved grandchildren: Jonathan Morris (Sarah), Brandon Morris, Brooke Belfield (Robbie), Kristin Morris, Amanda Morris (Jacob), and Joshua Morris; her step grandchildren: Crystal Detrick, Michelle Dwyer (Levi), Christopher Langford and Tyler Morris; her great-grandchildren: Avery Morris, Autumn Morris, Dylan Dawson, Skylar Belfield, Savannah Belfield, Torie Detrick and Ava Marie Winebarger; her siblings: Judy Lee Boyle (William Ambrose), Mary Ellen “Loney” O’Bier (Durwood), Bernard Boyle (Dana), Bryon Boyle (Wendy) and her nieces and nephews: Robert “Bubba”, Lynn, Patrick, Cindy and Cora.

A service will be held for Rosemarie at Welcome Grove Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, with the Reverend Willard Bowen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Welcome Grove Baptist Church in honor of Rosemarie.
