Jeremiah “Jerry” Simmes Norris, 89, of Bryans Road, Maryland and Callao, Virginia peacefully passed away at his home in Callao surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Thomas Reginald Norris, Sr and the late Martha Johanna Thee Norris and brought home to the family farm in Bryans Road that has remained in the family for over 150 years. He married the former Audrey Mae Elgin and worked the family farm along with his dad and brother. He attended St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Hague, Virginia and St. Mary Star of the Sea in Indian Head, Maryland. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force Reserves.

Jerry worked hard to grow their business and was very proud to have Audrey and the kids working with him. After retirement, he and Audrey lived a snowbird life for over 20 years, enjoying their time in Clermont and Dade City, Florida in the winter months. His background as a farmer made him an avid gardener, and his yard and garden were a source of pride. Jerry loved to work with his hands and was an excellent handyman and tinkerer. It truly made him happy when he could repurpose something he had saved. He loved traveling with his wife, kids and granddaughters; golfing; fishing; cooking and eating. Above all, Jerry cherished his wife, children, granddaughters and great-grandsons. His kids and granddaughters thought he was the best Dad and Pop in the world.
