David Ray Kane, 71, of Edwardsville, passed away on May 19, 2022 peacefully at home after battling cancer. Dave was the husband of Joyce Kane who preceded him in death and was surely there to guide him home. Dave is survived by his brother Bobby Kane and family; son Brian Hooks and family; daughter Sarah Berger and family; stepdaughter Tam Foxwell; grandson Creek Foxwell; and best friend Mark.

Dave was a long-time waterman who crabbed and oystered the waters of Northumberland County for over 30 years. He fished from the “Cheers” a wooden workboat that he owned for many years as well as smaller skiffs. The picture posted here was painted by a friend and shows Dave in his element with one of faithful Labs by his side. Dave also raced motorcycles during his younger days and had many trophies, great stories to tell and scars to show. He loved to read Civil War books and watch westerns on TV.

He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Rest peacefully.
