Obituary for Theodore William "Ted" Hoffmeister Jr.

Theodore William “Ted” Hoffmeister, Jr., 87, of Warsaw passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Born in Queens, New York, Ted was the son of the late Theodore and Martha Hoffmeister. He retired from the Water Department of the City of New York and upon retirement made his home in Warsaw for the past thirty years. Ted was a member of Warsaw United Methodist Church.

Ted loved the water, boats and sailing and living in the Northern Neck let him live that dream. He was also a very talented artist, and he painted signs as well as on canvas and his beautiful house signs were enjoyed by many residents of the area. He was an active member of his church until illness prevented him from this. Ted actively participated in the Warsaw U.M.C.’s Food Bank and other community outreach endeavors.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Terry Sprouse Hoffmeister; his son David Hoffmeister; his daughters Donna McDaniel (John) and Dianne Sanna (Tim); his grandchildren: Claire McDaniel, Ethan McDaniel, Alex Sanna and Evan Sanna; his loving nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law Jo Hoffmeister; his good friends: Pete Graziose, Victor Snell, and Ron Nelson. Ted was predeceased by his parents, his first wife and the mother of his children, Lillian Hoffmeister, and his brother Richard H. Hoffmeister.

A celebration of life for Ted will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Welch Funeral Home Mark Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Ted’s loving memory to the Warsaw U.M.C. Food Bank; 287 Main Street, P.O. Box 291, Warsaw, VA 22572.
