Obituary for Catherine Marie Williams (Crowe)

Catherine Marie Crowe Williams, 82, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 16, 2022. Catherine was born in Millers Tavern on March 2, 1940 to the late Alvin Roy Crowe and the late Lucy Pauline Carter Crowe.

Catherine was a lifelong member of Smyra Christian Church in Bruington, Virginia. She was known for the immense love she had for her family. She enjoyed chatting and visiting with her friends and was so outgoing and easy to love. Catherine took great pleasure in cooking for the people around her, presiding over her “talking table” where stories were told, and she made everyone feel at home. Catherine really loved children and looked after many little ones over the years. She also lovingly cared for many relatives, including her parents and in-laws. She will be dearly missed by both her family and community.

Catherine is survived by her loving children: daughter Anne Louis English (David) and son Keith Williams; sister Barbara Scott; brother-in-law Leon Williams; sister-in-law Margaret Williams; uncle Nelson “Boy” Crowe; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Louis Russell Williams, who she has missed for so many years; and her sisters: Ruth Ellen Skelton, Leslie Courtney, Evelyn Cheek, Helen Chenault, and Mary Hazelwood.

A funeral service for Catherine will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home - Marks Chapel in Warsaw, Virginia with the Reverend Bill Ford officiating. Lisa White will deliver the eulogy. Interment will take place in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service. Catherine’s family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Welch Marks Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Smyrna Christian Church at 3655 Powcan Road, Bruington, VA 23023.

Catherine’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the wonderful friends and neighbors for their care, love, meals, and visits during Catherine’s illness. They would also like to thank the Riverside Tappahannock Hospice team for their support and care.
