Obituary for Kenneth Lenwood Evans Jr.
Kenneth Lenwood Evans, Jr., 68, of Kinsale departed his earthly life on Friday, December 9, 2022. Kenny was the son of the late Kenneth L. Evans, Sr. and the late Jane Marie Thrift Evans. He was a lifelong resident of the Northern Neck. Kenny was a waterman employed by the Bevans Oyster Company in Kinsale and a member of Carmel United Methodist Church.
Kenny was a kind man who loved his family dearly. He loved football, rooting hard for his Commanders. Kenny never grew tired of being outdoors and on the water. He worked hard on the river and played hard on it as well. He loved taking his family out on his boat. He will be missed by all of us.
He is survived by his loving siblings - sister Shirley Bevans (Ronnie) and brother Ray Evans (Karen); his cherished nieces: Annette Terry (David), Kathleen Jones (David), Margaret Ransone (Todd), Gwen Carr (Richie), Amy Steele (David), Katherine Evans (fiancé James Briggs), and Kari Evans; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews. Kenny was predeceased by his parents and his beloved dog Lenny.
A funeral service for Kenny will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Carmel United Methodist Church in Kinsale, with the Reverend Mark Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in the Carmel U.M.C. Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Moss, Scottie Moss, Buzz Taylor, Lynn Nash, Todd Ransone, David Jones, David Terry. Honorary Pallbearers will be his great nephews: Bevan Ransone, Chase Hymes, Waylon Hymes.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Kenny’s memory to the Cople District Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 51, Kinsale VA 22488.
