Obituary for Marilyn Miller Harvey

Marilyn Miller Harvey, 97, of Montross, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022. She was a member and longtime organist of St. James Episcopal Church in Montross. Marilyn was a school teacher for 40 years in Westmoreland County where she taught at Oak Grove Elementary, Washington & Lee High School and Montross Middle School.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Robb Harvey, Jr. (Pamela Harvey); daughter, Ruth Ann Harvey (Doug Ramsey); granddaughters, Jessica Harvey Wilkerson and Robin Michelle Harvey; great- grandchildren, Derek James Wilkerson, Jeffrey Alan McCormack, Chase Patrick McCormack and Jadelyn Fox Hensley; and nephews, Kimbell Harvey, Everett Harvey and Lynn Brownley.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Marcus Miller and Dora Elizabeth Lakin Miller; husband, Patrick Robb Harvey, Sr.; and brother, Kenneth Marcus Miller.

Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of a life well lived, once of service to her community as an active member at St. James and as an educator that had a profound impact on the lives of those she taught. Friends and family alike remember her as a kind hearted woman, always willing to help others in their time of need.

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Welch Funeral Home- Montross Chapel.

A memorial service for Marilyn will be held at a 11 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at St. James Episcopal Church in Montross.
